Welcome to Jefferson Station
On behalf of the JSCA Board of Directors and all residents, we welcome you and your family to one of the best areas in Lawrenceville! Whether you are relocating from within the Atlanta area, or from out of state, we are sure you will enjoy your new home and neighbors.
JSCA & Events
The Jefferson Station Community Association (JSCA) consists of the Jefferson Station and Lullwater subdivisions to offer Recreational Memberships. The central gathering place is the recreational area located at 1950 Shadwell Way within the Jefferson Station subdivision. The recreational area consists of two lighted tennis courts, junior Olympic size swimming pool, swing/play set area, and clubhouse.
There are scheduled activities throughout the year. Our usual organized events consist of an Easter Egg Hunt, Memorial Day cookout, Labor Day cookout, and Halloween Party for children. Other events are generally coordinated by residents for special events, such as private birthday parties, and for Boy or Girl Scout meetings. The clubhouse is also available for other functions on a paid basis, but primarily limited to residents of the JSCA. In addition, we usually have a locally advertised and coordinated neighborhood garage sale once each year, and it is regarded as a "must see" event.
Board Meetings
The Jefferson Station Community Association is a Georgia nonprofit organization that speaks to the needs of our community. The Board of Directors are responsible for managing the affairs of the association and within the constraints of our annual membership budget. The Board consists of up to twelve directors who volunteer their time, skills, and talent to make our neighborhood the best in the area. The Board meets on the second Sunday of every month at 7:30PM at the Jefferson Station clubhouse. These are "open meetings" and any JSCA resident and/or guest is welcome to attend, share ideas, or volunteer their time.
Annual Dues - As of 2010
Two levels of memberships are available to residents. These are Participating Members and Recreational Members.
The Participating Member dues are $75.00 each year. (The Lullwater subdivision assesses it's own fee.) These fees are used for front entrance beautification and landscape maintenance in common areas. Although non-mandatory, the fee must be paid to become a Recreational member and to have voting rights at JSCA meetings.
Recreational Membership dues are $450.00 each year. There are discounts for early payment, and senior rates. This membership allows each resident access to any recreational club amenity such as tennis courts, and swimming pool area. The tennis courts are lighted and open all year, and the swimming pool is open from Memorial Day until Labor Day.
The invoice for both the Participating and Recreational Membership are distributed to all residents during the month of February of each year, and payments are due by May 1st each year.
Complete details on both memberships are better described in the "Bylaws of Jefferson Station Community Association, Inc."
ALTA & USTA Tennis Leagues
There are two major organized tennis leagues open to residents of the Atlanta metro area. Several Atlanta Lawn & Tennis Association (ALTA) tennis teams within our community include Men's, Women's, and Junior's, adjusted to all levels of playing skill. ALTA is a non-profit organization devoted to the development of tennis for recreation and physical fitness. It pledges to maintain the rules of play and high standards of sportsmanship. The primary function of ALTA is scheduling league play for adults and juniors in the greater Atlanta metro area each year. There are approximately 78,000 members. Our ALTA seasons are typically only each spring and fall, although ALTA league play is offered throughout the year. See the Upcoming Events page for schedules and additional information.
The United States Tennis Association (USTA) is very much the same format of league play, and our league play is typically organized for summer and winter playing times. As with either league, sign-up, and qualification is required for placement within a particular playing skill level. Watch for newsletters for sign-up details for times, and team captain contacts. See the Upcoming Events page for schedules and additional information.
Swim Team Events
The "Steeple Station Stingrays" is the official swim team name for our community. This team is operated in conjunction with the Steeplechase subdivision located along Sever Road across from Jefferson Station. Watch for special newsletters for details about sign-up, etc. These extra-curricular events are for children and teenagers wishing to compete against other swim teams throughout our area. See the Upcoming Events page for schedules and additional information.
Newsletter
The "Neighborhood News" is our informal monthly newsletter designed to keep all residents up-to-date about activities, special events, and items of interest. The newsletter can also be used to place want ads, editorials, babysitting, etc.
Neighborhood Directory
The "JSCA Neighborhood Directory" is provided to residents each year containing the most current telephone and family information within our community. (This information is not intended for use or to be shared with any outside entity, nor used for any solicitation or telemarketing purpose). The information is for your benefit, since area telephone books are generally published only once a year. Note: Personal information from the directory will not be posted on this web site.
Protective Covenants
The Architectural Control Committee (ACC) is charged with the task of reviewing any exterior building changes consisting of exterior paint or facade, add-on remodeling, and landscaping. Generally, the purpose of this committee is to help insure that any changes comply with the Protective Covenants set forth for Jefferson Station and Lullwater as recorded by the Gwinnett County courthouse. A detailed list of recorded covenants is included, detailing the six phases of Jefferson Station's development. See the rules page for the complete text of the covenants.
Solicitation
"No solicitation" signs are posted at several locations within our community. The presence of these signs does not pertain to our local children from seeking help with school or other organized fundraisers. The signs are meant to deter commercial solicitations from sources outside of our community.
